Course satisfies the Social & Cultural Competence CE requirement!

As our population ages, we support aging clients amidst the joys and challenges of aging. Erik Erikson’s psychosocial stage for older adults guides us to consider how to support our clients in developing the experience of integrity rather than despair. This webinar will consider what contributes to the experience of integrity or despair at the interpersonal and societal level. This workshop will explore factors that impact this developmental task: loss, agency, belonging, calling, meaning making, living in the and, bullying in senior living, shame, ageism, and mortality.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify contributing factors and life experiences that lead to integrity or despair in the senior years
  • Describe how ageism and shame contribute to despair
  • Summarize interventions that can be utilized in order to support clients in developing a sense of integrity
